I have been a resident of South Carolina's capital city since 2010. After suffering from a running injury in 2007, a coworker recommended Bikram yoga to me as a low-impact workout. The practice enticed me from day one because it is truly a moving meditation and mind/body cleansing.
When Bikram Yoga Columbia opened in late 2012, I gained an immediate sense of community at the studio and became even more enamored of the practice after completing a 60-day challenge in March of 2013.
It was the yoga challenge that altered my perception of what my body was capable of doing. Incorporating yoga into my life with such frequency sounded daunting, but it changed me. Never before had I felt more clear-headed and balanced, my body was stronger, and I began to identify with a more compassionate sense of self.
My commitment to yoga was furthered after training for the Florida Regional USA Yoga Asana Championship in St. Augustine during January 2014. Once again, practicing with regularity and intention created something like a higher order shift within me, and I was determined to attend Bikram Yoga Teacher Training as soon as possible.
I realized my goal to attend training and became a Bikram teacher in June 2014. In addition, I became Vinyasa certified in September 2015. Although Bikram Yoga Columbia is my home studio, I have taught at a number of locations, including Lake Norman, North Carolina and throughout the Hamptons on Long Island, New York. It is my great pleasure to help others improve their lives one breath at a time.

Our Yin Yoga classes are unique every time and designed to stimulate circulation in the joints and improve overall flexibility by stretching and releasing connective tissues in the body. Yin yoga is also excellent for stress management. Whether you are taking a huge test at school or dealing with job related stress, Yin Yoga, taught only by Yin certified instructors, can truly help. Yin Yoga is a less intense and more meditative form of yoga that is taught in a relaxing low heat classroom environment. These 60 minute classes include a series of floor postures that are held in position for 3 to 5 minutes thereby allowing muscles to relax and connective tissue to gradually stretch.

Unnata Aerial Yoga is a relatively new and fun practice that allows you to deepen your traditional yoga asana practice by using the hammock as a tool to relax, release, realign and rebuild the body. At Harmony Hot Yoga and Aerial Center, we use only top quality professional grade Aerial Yoga Hammocks for this purpose. The hammock is used as a prop, like a block or strap, to help heighten awareness and provides the immediate benefit of spinal decompression. Once the body is properly realigned, you can expand your range of motion, increase your flexibility, release chronic tension and build strength. With the weight of the body partially or fully supported, along with the help of gravity, you can explore and create space in your bodies to improve your traditional yoga asana practice. Without the compression of the spine and joints, you can achieve properly aligned postures through relaxation rather than effort, therefore finding a more balanced and unencumbered expression of each pose. Harmony Hot Vinyasa Yoga is a faster paced yoga flow where the postures are linked together in a series of movements that are synchronized with the breath. Much emphasis is placed on effective utilization of the breath as you transition into and out of the postures during the practice. The continuous movement from one pose to another, gives you an added cardiovascular benefit, which more traditional forms of yoga do not have. Since we practice Vinyasa Yoga at elevated temperatures, it is a much safer practice as the heat allows you go deeper into each posture with less risk of injury. The routine practice of Vinyasa Yoga can increase muscle strength, endurance, flexibility, and reduce levels of stress. This is another great class for detoxification as well!
